Nordson helps Princes Gate Spring Water to streamline

Nordson Corporation recently worked with Princes Gate Spring Water to develop a solution that would streamline the efficiency and running costs of the carousel labellers used on its production line

Nordson Corporation recently worked with Princes Gate Spring Water to develop a solution that would streamline the efficiency and running costs of the carousel labellers used on its production line.

By replacing the traditional wheel and pot application system with a non-contact closed Nordson system, Princes Gate is now saving around 50 percent on adhesive consumption. Line efficiency has also improved due to a reduction in make-ready times and downtime for cleaning.

The new Nordson label application equipment allows Princes Gate to optimize their production by delivering the precise amounts of adhesive accurately and consistently. They have reduced the amount of adhesive being used and have optimised the glue pattern. With sustainability as one of its core beliefs, Princes Gate has seen a reduction in energy with the new labeling system as compared to when the open wheel and pot system was in use.

“We noticed an immediate improvement in our adhesive application online. Nordson was efficient with the installation, and we experienced minimal interruption to our manufacturing processes. I am pleased to report immediate benefits noted and our estimations indicate a short payback period,” said Endaf Edwards, operations director for Princes Gate Spring Water.

Nordson’s non-contact label application systems apply spiral-shaped swirls, mini-swirls or mini dots to labels, containers and cross seams/lap seams. Slot guns can also be used to apply precise ribbons or stripes to cross seams. Closed systems prevent adhesive from being exposed to open air, debris, contamination and degradation. Closed systems also provide better process control, efficiency and material utilisation whilst minimising maintenance, clean up, adhesive waste and reject products.

“Nordson has installed a large number of label systems in the UK and the customers are extremely pleased with the benefits quickly seen. We have a highly trained specialist technical team who can both install the system and train the operators easily,” said Chris Duggan, sales specialist for packaging and labeling equipment at Nordson.

Nordson is the leader in precision dispensing equipment for applying industrial liquids, adhesives, and sealants to numerous consumer and industrial products during manufacturing operations. Whatever the application or substrate Nordson has the equipment capable of meeting requirements.

Market leading products such as ProBlue Fulfill systems, are designed to offer a cost effective and reliable solution when applying adhesives in a wide variety of industries including the food and beverage, consumer packaging, paper, converting, automotive, filter, woodworking and construction markets.

Through the UK facilities, Nordson offer a sales and support function with a team of experienced sales representatives fully conversant in the product range and application knowledge. Nordson equipment is supported by a market leading service operation including a same day and next day parts supply, a network of experienced field engineers and a free technical helpline available all days, evenings and weekends.
