New Decanter Drive System Delivers Optimum Decanter

A new generation of Westfalia Separator Ecoforce decanters designed for the food and beverage industry incorporates a new drive system that can offer increased flexibility of operation, higher availability rates and a reduction in operating costs

The decanters incorporate Westfalia Separator® summationdrive, a new drive concept that can offer optimum clarification of liquids for discharge and dewatering of solids content to achieve optimum dry value substances and improved decanter operating costs.

To achieve constant, maximum clarification and dewatering a decanter must recognise the feed conditions and automatically adjust itself to these changing conditions with a high-torque drive. Both need to be regulated in relation to each other and it is here that the Westfalia Separator® summationdrive delivers advantages over other systems offering processing of high solids capacities.

With the Westfalia Separator® summationdrive the power is supplied exclusively to all shafts. No un-required power is supplied which eliminates the need for power recovery and recycling. Electrical components for recycling energy and belt drives which circulate power are no longer needed which results in space savings and shaft load is reduced for improved efficiencies.

The Westfalia Separator® summationdrive can cover a wide range of differential speeds delivering flexibility of operation without any decanter parts needing to be changed. The high efficiency of the full torque drive has a positive impact on the reliability and service life of the drive.

The Westfalia Separator® summationdrive delivers an advantageous “one fits all” drive for the new generation of decanters. Flexibility is maximised and future proofing is achieved. As only a fraction of the spare parts are required, compared to the previous many alternative versions, then this simplifies both service and general availability.
