'New laserprint technology'

21 October 2009

The UK arm of European packaging supplier Van Der Windt has launched a technique that allows customers to brand their products using specialist Laserprint technology

Van Der Windt UK, a member of the international Clondalkin Group, says it can laserprint logos and names to food application films to offer a new way to promote products and differentiate primary packaging.

It's said Laserprint branding and finishing is the latest innovation in the 15,000-strong product range available from Van Der Windt UK which specialises in servicing the horticultural, agricultural and retail sectors as well as food markets.

Products include flower packaging for supermarket own branding, and a range of packaging for the wholesale sundries sector including Cellopak and paper rolls, flower buckets, Elastitags, films, bags, plastic crates for fruit and vegetables, as well as a range of bio-based packaging including palm pulp trays and corn-starch based films.

The company says advantages of the new Laserprint finish compared to traditional ink printing include quicker turnaround on jobs facilitating faster response times and added flexibility in the delivery of promotional messages, as well as lower production costs.

Laserprinting can also handle short-run smaller production quantities alongside long-run larger production quantities. Laserprinting doesn't undermine any packaging integrity features. Van Der Windt UK general manager Richard Selby said: “Laserprint offers an eye-catching way to ensure brand promotion continues all the way from the supermarket shelf to when the product is cooked and ready to be served.

“Laserprinting is a unique and innovative service we can provide our customers and adds a new element to what is already an impressive range of products that we supply to the food industry.

“We always put our customers first and work hard to give them solutions that can enhance their own product offerings in the market place. This product, we believe, is a world-first which can be easily adapted to suit particular needs.”

Van Der Windt UK, based in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, is part of the Van Der Windt Group which has extensive facilities in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Ireland. The group serves 6,000 customers across Europe with a 15,000-strong product range for the agriculture, horticulture, retail, food-service, hotel, restaurant and catering, cleaning and hospital, and food and non-food industry markets.

The Van der Windt Group is owned by Clondalkin Group, which is an international producer of high value added packaging products and services.
