Reducing false rejects from conductive solutions

07 November 2023

Conductive products can represent a challenge for some metal detectors, significantly reducing the level of detection sensitivity that can be achieved.

This was the problem faced by one German producer of salad dressings whose products can be highly conductive salt solutions, which presented its original detectors with a challenge, influencing the detectors magnetic field and masking the signal of foreign objects.

The company was constantly experiencing false rejects, which had a significant impact on its productivity. The company decided to find a better detection solution, and spoke to Minebea Intec which suggested the use of its Mitus metal detector, equipped with the flexible MiWave which is able to generate a variety of modulated frequencies in the transmitter signal, which can then be separated and evaluated using an intelligent algorithm. Thanks to its high level of detection sensitivity, Mitus is able to detect and show even the smallest metal contaminations despite a high product effect.
