Simulating conveyor success

27 March 2023

Lenham Storage specialises in ambient storage and FMCG storage and distribution, serving manufacturers, importers and distributors. The company recently invested in new facilities to allow it to provide a co-packing service.

Due to an existing, longstanding relationshop with UPM Conveyors, Lenham storage asked it to submit plans for a conveying product flow design to incorporate all aspects of the co-packing operation. The UPM design engineers used 3D mechanical solid modelling design software to create a 3D digital prototype of the suggested solution, which also provided a simulation of operation.

Installation of the conveying solution was completed on schedule and has delivered the expected levels of speed, flexibility and efficiency. Indeed, Ian Rose, Production and Quality Director at Lenham Storage has invited UPM Conveyors to design another product handling system to interface with an automatic box erector and shrink wrapper in conjunction with the existing labelling and coding operations to cater for the increase in the variable volumes of diverse products and to allow it to adhere to ever shorter end-to-end cycle times.
