Motor drive solutions engineered for you!

19 September 2022

A new optimised, two-component drive package and an integrated drive assembly for AGVs will be featured on Lafert Electric Motors’ stand at the PPMA Show (A24). The company will also be exhibiting its range of Marlin stainless motors and gearboxes, compatible drives for hygiene sensitive applications together with three phase, single phase and brake motors.

Lafert’s HP Combi is a preconfigured, two component drive package designed to deliver versatile, high efficiency motion control. It is a ’Plug & Play’ solution comprising a PM (permanent magnet) synchronous motor with an optimised, matched variable frequency drive (VFD).

Several drive configurations are available to cover a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. It is ideal for both variable torque applications, as might be demanded for HVAC duties, and constant torque functions as required for materials handling, air compressors and air pumps.

The integrated drive assembly, which is called Smartris, has been developed specifically for tow vehicles, assembly line trucks and mobile robots and other similar roles.

Smartris is a compact, battery-powered unit comprising a cycloid gearbox, servo motor, drive and wheel with rubber tyre. It features a gear in-wheel design to achieve low floor levels ideal to maximise an AGV’s space and load carrying potential.

Lafert’s Marlin stainless steel motors incorporate several design features that make them particularly appropriate for the food industry. They eliminate issues relating to rust and peeling paint and consequent risks relating to food contamination.

In addition, their smooth bodies have no cooling fins or other crevices that can harbour potential contaminants. Even the motor name plate details are etched into the body to eliminate the usual name plate fixings and their potential contamination risks.

The stainless-steel motors are IP69K/IP66 compliant so can be pressure washed in situ on machines, avoiding the need to remove the motor for cleaning and resulting lost production due to down time and associated engineering costs.
