Versatile cooling solution

21 February 2022

Paul McDermott explains the wide range of uses an easy-to-install cooling system can offer the food industry.

The Covid-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance that cold storage plays in the food industry. With supply chains stretched by staff shortages and the burdens of transport issues, the pressure on food producers has never been greater.

Keeping produce at the perfect temperature is a must if you want to preserve fresh fruit, dairy products and vegetables in first class condition. A reliable and energy efficient way to do so is by opting for the versatile J & E Hall cellar cooler system which goes beyond serving the hospitality industry.

Sustainability is a key factor and with more and more food producers selling at the farm gate, J & E Hall’s three different versions of cellar cooler systems have the flexibility to handle most applications where produce needs to be kept in a temperature-controlled environment.

The original J & E Hall cellar cooler systems have capacities ranging from 2.36kW to 6.2kw. The flexibility of electronic control down to 4°C means they are perfect for conventional cold rooms in prolonging the life of produce requiring a temperature-controlled environment. Low noise outdoor units also mean that they are suitable for use in residential areas.

The J & E Hall Cellar Plus Cooling System with single indoor unit designed for larger installations now includes four models. With a temperature range of 4°C to 15°C and the ability to handle pipe runs up to 50m, these coolers with their increased capacity up to 8.5kW are suitable for multiple uses across the food processing industry. They are ideal for cold storage which has played a key role in keeping us all fed during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The in-built electronic controller fitted as standard makes it easier for the engineer in set-up and provides the customer with the accurate temperature control needed when cooling sensitive products.

Our cellar coolers are also sold as a matched system with the condensing unit, controller and evaporator from the same manufacturer all included which helps the engineer with installation. Add the pipework, charge the system with refrigerant and switch the electricity on. It really is not much more complicated than that for the competent installer.

For odd-shaped cold storage areas where it may be difficult to maintain accurate temperature control, the J & E Hall Twin Cellar Plus range offers the twin indoor unit system. This allows the user to maintain perfect temperature control and consistent air flow at all times where the design of the building may be challenging.

J & E Hall cellar cooling systems are tried and tested, reliable and cost effective. They maintain accurate temperatures helping to prolong the life of food produce, retain quality, reduce wastage and increase profit. A three-year manufacturer's warranty gives the installer and the end user total peace of mind.

Our customers tell us that the versatility of a J & E Hall cellar cooler system makes them an essential piece of equipment. So, at a time when we are all having to meet new demands it is reassuring to know that cooling equipment is available to make the job easier and more efficient.
