In September Lafert Electric Motors attended the PPMA (Processing and Packaging Machinery Association), which is focused upon the packaging processes and machines employed within the food and pharmaceutical sectors. 

Over the past two years, the packaging process has seen a strong move towards automation and robotization to cope with personnel shortages within production plants during the Covid 19 pandemic. Considering the missed 2020 event and the numerous new proposals from exhibitors in this evolving market, it made the 2021 event particularly exciting.
 
"It was great to reach a certain level of normality again and return to meet current and new customers in person. We were somewhat surprised and delighted with the show attendance and the number of serious enquiries about products across our range of products, especially with concerns about Covid and fuel shortages,” commented Brian Bannister, Managing Director, Lafert Electric Motors. “The Show proved to be an ideal opportunity to present our two new products, ‘Smartris’ and ‘HP Combi’ as well as our established motor products, particularly our ‘Marlin’ stainless range of motors, gearboxes and compatible inverters.”
 
• Smartris is a new integrated solution complete with gear, servo motor and drive in one package for AGV systems. Developed for various types of automated guided vehicles, the integrated package offers high performance, maximum precision, safety and reliability.

The Smartris solution is among the most compact on the market thanks to the integrated gear and the optimized use of space inside the AGV, it can operate much closer to the ground. 

• HP Combi combines a permanent magnet synchronous motor with its matched variable frequency drive.

The Combi package combines the IE5 Ultra-Premium efficiency of our permanent magnet synchronous motors with our variable frequency drive (VFD) achieving the highest energy efficiency standards. Three configurations of the motor-drive package – Smart, Flow and Plus – allow it to meet the needs of both variable and constant torque applications.

These two products come from the numerous synergies between Lafert and companies within the Sumitomo Drive Technologies group working together to develop innovative products geared towards a future of integration. 

In addition to these two new products and the Marlin stainless range, Lafert exhibited the company’s standard and special asynchronous motors, brushless servomotors, and permanent magnet motors.
