Ensuring a homogeneous mix for yoghurt base

20 May 2021

Ytron-Quadro (UK) has supplied three of its largest YTRON-Y directed jet mixers to Yeo Valley Farms Production.

The 55kW mixers are installed in 45,000l and 100,000l vessels which contain a highly viscous yogurt base.

The mixing units were provided as part part of the new facility that was completed by the Somerset based engineering company, Sycamore Process Engineering.

The mixers ensure a homogeneous mix throughout the whole batch. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations were created to ensure that the size, design and installation position of the mixers were optimised for efficient and effective mixing.

Due to the size of the mixers, a special design has been used to allow maintenance of seals without the need to remove the large/heavy motor.

Yeo Valley Farms Production has been using YTRON equipment in its factories in Blagdon, Cannington and Newton Abbott for mixing, dispersing and for smoothing of certain of its yogurts since the 1990’s.
