Compostable packaging doubles shelf-life of fresh produce

Compostable packaging producer TIPA and shelf-life extension specialist PerfoTec have partnered to create fully compostable packaging that is said to extend the shelf-life of fresh produce. 

The laser microperforated compostable film provides packaging that can reduce food waste, combat plastic pollution and cut carbon emissions, according to the companies.
   
TIPA’s compostable packaging performs like a conventional plastic but decomposes in compost back into the soil with no toxic residue, microplastics or other pollutants. Its packaging solutions are designed to fit with industry machinery and manufacturing practices.  

PerfoTec’s high precision laser technology is said to facilitates longer shelf-life by adapting the permeability of food packaging.  Together, these technologies are claimed to provide a produce packaging solution that can extend produce shelf-life.
