Single-phase stainless-steel motor introduced at PPMA Show

19 August 2019

A new single-phase motor has been added to the already extensive range of ‘Marlin’ stainless motors offered by Lafert and it will be exhibited for the first time at the PPMA Show (Stand A24).

In addition to its range of stainless motors and complementary smooth-bodied gearboxes, the company will also be showing examples of its IE2/IE3 asynchronous motors, high efficiency IE4/IE5 permanent magnet motors, brake motors and single-phase motors.

The new single-phase motor, which is offered with either low or high torque starting options, joins a stainless-steel range that includes TENV (Totally Enclosed Non-Ventilated), TEAOM (Totally Enclosed Air-Over Motor), and TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled) machines. For extreme conditions, there is even a water-cooled version. The motors are IP69K or IP66 rated and are available with finishes up to pharmaceutical standard. Power ratings are up to 15kW.

A range of IP66 variable speed drives is available to ensure system integrity and operating efficiency.

Lafert’s permanent magnet IE4 and IE5 motors exceed current energy efficiency requirements, enabling machine and system designers/builders a degree of futureproofing. They also offer the benefits of significant motor size reduction combined with weight savings when compared to standard motors. Plus, there is the benefit of the option for an integrated motor/drive package to give assured maximum efficiency.

Brake motor options include motors with DC or AC high torque step-adjustable braking and DC low torque, which gives quiet, progressive braking.
