Hygienically-designed connectors

08 April 2019

HARTING has developed the Han F+B series hygienically-designed connectors which are said to provide strong resistance to detergents, and which are suited to use in temperature ranges of from -40 to +125°C and to prevent the build-up of dirt.

Any interface used in food production applications must be resistant to the water jets used to clean equipment (IP6K9K). Han F+B meets these requirements.

Mating and unplugging is easy, safe and fast with special grip knobs on the housing components for secure handling even in humid environments. If machine downtime occurs, users no longer need to open a cable gland on the control cabinet to decouple field devices. Costly detaching and re-establishing hardwired connections is eliminated, and stoppage times are shortened.

For secure identification, the connectors are blue. The housings can be used with hybrid contact inserts for data, signals and power. This makes it possible to optimally configure future-proof machine design for processing units, including Ethernet. The maximum power is 16 A/500 V. An adapter permits users to integrate inserts of the Han® 3A size: the bandwidth ranges from RJ45 interfaces via signal inserts with a maximum of 21 pins up to power contacts for currents of 40 A.
