New metal detector features help improve productivity

20 April 2017

Mettler-Toledo Safeline has introduced new features to its Profile Throat metal detectors and Gravity Fall systems.

The Reduced Test (RT) Mode enables a reduction in the frequency of metal detector testing. On-board technology permanently checks the performance of all critical components within the system, continuously analysing them. Reduced Test Mode will identify issues that could potentially affect the performance of the metal detector.

The Automatic Test System (ATS) feature was developed to minimise downtime. It introduces three test pieces into the metal detector's aperture via a pneumatic system - one ferrous, one non-ferrous and one stainless steel - at the touch of a button. A 4-test sample option is also available, to facilitate testing for aluminium. ATS improves the efficiency and repeatability of performance testing to enhance quality processes.

New eDrive technology drives greater power to the transmit coil of the metal detector, enabling it to detect significantly smaller real life metal contaminants, this can also result in  improved wire length detection capabilities.

Finally, Emulation allows operators to mirror the HMI of one or multiple Profile metal detectors onto remote networked devices, including mobile phones, tablets and laptops. This allows quality personnel to remotely monitor the status of the detector, view any setting changes and review access log statistics.
