Veolia re-energises in the UK

30 July 2014

Veolia has announced its sister company Dalkia plc, will be fully integrating with the UK group and adopting the Veolia brand name.

While the name change reflects the closer integration of the group, the business will continue to provide customers with its expertise in developing, constructing and operating greener and more economical energy solutions with the added benefit of incorporating the knowledge and expertise from the other areas of the business. Veolia will continue to support the sustainable operation of plants across the food and beverage, pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. This lowers the carbon footprint the production of 1.44 billion cans of food per year, 720 million litres of spirits and beer and 240,000 cars per year. It also maintains the quality of utility supplies for unique cancer and asthma drugs used in 130 countries worldwide.

Importantly, the move will further strengthen the energy management specialist’s services portfolio, helping industrial sectors to reduce energy supply costs, manage consumption, and benefit from effective resources across a full range of environmental solutions.

Estelle Brachlianoff, Veolia’s Senior Executive Vice President for UK and Ireland said “Veolia has always been the UK’s leading environmental solutions provider, and bringing our energy arm, Dalkia, fully on board truly cements us as a team. We know this will be only a benefit to our customers now and going forward, as they will be open to a larger range of services helping them be more sustainable into the future”.

Pat Gilroy, will head up the new team as Chief Operating Officer Industrial Customers UK and Country Head Ireland.

He said,“Dalkia has maintained the energy activity of Veolia for the past 13 years, and for brand clarity purposes, this change to align with the Veolia brand has been considered for a long time. We are delighted that it is finally becoming a reality and we are looking forward to a promising future as a fully integrated group. This will not impact on the services we provide to our customers and we have retained all of our energy and utilities expertise. The change now means that we will be able to provide significant benefits in terms of an environmental offer to our clients.”
