Bespoke packaging line in the bag at Pecan Deluxe

16 June 2014

Leading inclusions specialist Pecan Deluxe Candy (Europe) has made a significant investment in a new, bespoke packaging line that will increase the company’s bagging capability by up to 400%.

The turn-key solution, set up in a dedicated sterile unit, enables Pecan Deluxe not only to increase its bagging capacity, but also to significantly reduce to just seconds the time that frozen goods are exposed to ambient conditions. In addition, the transition time can be adjusted for delicate products and the bag size selected from 150mm width for larger bags to 60mm for sachets, ensuring increased versatility.

Specified with an impressive multi-head weigher that caters for individual portions, from as little as 8g up to a mighty 2kg, the system offers unprecedented flexibility to Pecan Deluxe, whose class-leading range of ice cream, bakery and dessert inclusions is already in demand across the world. The new packaging line can operate at up to 100 bags per minute, boasting an integral metal detector and a dedicated turntable for final-stage quality checking and packing.

The new system will be particularly valuable to the company’s QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) customers who require rapid turnaround of bulk orders. Pecan Deluxe managing director Graham Kingston explained: “Pecan Deluxe is wholly focused on the delivery of class-leading inclusions, in bulk, as rapidly and cost-effectively as possible. Our new, bespoke bagging line enables us to achieve just that across a vast range of products that are ideal not only for food service groups, but also fast food restaurants – where the ability to fulfil larger order quantities is key.

“The needs of artisan and other retail bakeries can also be easily met as the packaging line is ideal for our moulded chocolate pieces, cookie dough, brownies and popping candy – in fact practically any product in our massive range. With the potential for numerous different pack formats, it’s exactly what we need to further improve our already outstanding customer service across multiple market sectors.”

The new system was constructed to Pecan Deluxe’s bespoke specifications by Yamato, which has a Yorkshire base, and follows another major investment in a new, dedicated European cold extrusions plant, which ensures that high volume orders are always fulfilled as efficiently and rapidly as possible.
