Wigan UTC opening 2013 to specialise in food processing

03 January 2013

Wigan UTC is one of 16 university technical colleges opening in September 2013 and is unique in that it is the only UTC to specialise in food process engineering and environmental technologies

University Technical Colleges are a new concept in education. They offer 14-19 year olds the opportunity to take a highly regarded, technically-oriented course of study with an employer led curriculum.

They are equipped to the highest standard, sponsored by a university and offer clear progression routes into higher education or further learning in the workplace.

Working with the University of Central Lancashire, Wigan & Leigh College, and prestigious local and multinational companies, the UTC will blend traditional academic excellence with pioneering engineering opportunities that will prepare students for University and the workplace, aiming to fill the skills gap.

''We hope to attract ambitious students who want to study in a business like environment and who want to excel. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this project further with you and would like to invite you to our information, advice and guidance event on the 17 January.

''Here you will be able to learn more about this exciting project and will have the opportunity to meet with other companies in your sector. We very much hope that you or a representative will be available to join us at 3.30pm at the Wigan Investment Centre.''

Please email event@wiganutc.org for more details or to confirm your attendance.
