Beacon Foods recruits senior product development manager

15 November 2012

A professional with extensive knowledge of the food industry has been recruited as new product development manager at Beacon Foods. Ian St John, 31, who is originally from Newport, is delighted to have returned to Wales with his new post and is looking forward to contributing to the continued growth of the family-owned Brecon business, which has a workforce of 100.

He joins Beacon Foods after six years with United Biscuits, working on major retail brands.

A nutrition graduate of King’s College London, Ian began his career as a product development technologist with New Prime Bake, Nantwich before joining Buckingham Foods, Milton Keynes.

“The main reason for joining Beacon Foods is that I wanted to work for a company where I can make a difference rather than being just a number in a big company,” he explained. “I knew some of the products that Beacon Foods did but had no idea of the full range, which is quite overwhelming.

“Having invested heavily in facilities, equipment and staff, the company is in a really good place and has a lot of potential for growth. I am looking forward to working with customers on their product briefs.”

Away from work, Ian enjoys cooking, having initially set his sights on a career as patisserie chef. He’s also a keen traveller, having visited Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Cambodia during a gap year from work.
