Appetite: Sweet touch from Greencore Cakes & Desserts
14 February 2012
Graham Thomas, engineering manager at Greencore Cakes & Desserts, will present at Appetite for Engineering at the Hinckley Island Hotel on 12 June 2012. He will talk about the investment in engineering that is so important to the company's success.

Greencore Cakes & Desserts is a producer of celebration cakes and a UK player in the supply of Christmas cakes and chilled hot-eat desserts, operating from a leading cakes and desserts facility.
The company's bakery, located on a 13-acre site in Hull, was opened in September 2000; the £30m investment was designed to create a one-stop source of supply for the company's customers, which include the major grocery retailers as well as many foodservice businesses.
''By combining high volume production with premium handcrafted products, we're able to create a range of superb quality products for customer's own brands, licensed brands and our own Beverley Manor label,'' says the company on its website. ''The bakery has three segregated production units with full temperature control in all zones and incorporates the very latest processes and technology.
''However, a great facility requires more than this: a key ingredient - great people to work in it. Our extensive test bakery and development kitchen houses a large team of creative people who develop wonderful product designs and recipes.
''In the production areas, up to 1,000 colleagues, many with craft decorating skills, ensure that every product reaching the shelves is of the highest quality. All three zones of the bakery have been awarded the British Retail Consortium (BRC) accreditation at higher level.''
