Gower Cottage Brownies 'delivered fresh nationwide'

07 December 2011

Best Welsh Independent Retailer of the Year 2011 and multi award-winning confectioner Gower Cottage Brownies has seen its business double year-on-year with help from next day parcel company APC Overnight

Kate Jenkins, the entrepreneurial owner and creator of the highly acclaimed home produced brownie, trusts APC’s nationwide network to deliver her prized confection to customers throughout the UK on time and in perfect condition.

“I switched to APC when my previous service provider became unreliable and I’ve never looked back. I can confidently fulfil orders knowing that my customers will receive their fresh brownies on time, every time.

“The local depot, APC Celtic Couriers, is supportive and I trust them to do a great job and this works well for my business. The fact that I have a reliable delivery service completes the customers’ experience of buying from Gower Cottage Brownies,” says Kate Jenkins.

The brownies have grabbed the attention of many celebrities, including Phil Jupitus, Willie Harcourt Cooze, Gary Rhodes, Ruth Jones and Jay Rayner. National newspapers and magazines are hailing the success of the Gower Cottage produce too. Gower Cottage Brownies was voted “Best Welsh Independent Retailer of the Year 2011” by Observer Food Monthly at the recent OMF Awards.

“My business is built on word of mouth recommendation and, therefore, it is essential that customers are happy with everything we offer and provide. This is evident in the feedback we have from customers who regularly comment on the quick delivery service and the cheerful, polite drivers who deliver their brownies. APC has certainly helped to develop a good reputation for Gower Cottage Brownies and I recommend the service to my friends and colleagues engaged in the food industry.”

With APC, Gower Cottage Brownies is benefiting from easy online booking, shipping label printing and parcel tracking with full proof of delivery. The NetDespatch system introduced and implemented by the local APC depot has simplified the order fulfilment and despatch process.

“The web booking system is superb. It simplifies the despatch process for me and I can use it to check that addresses are accurate; it is very fast and user friendly. We are looking to integrate this with our website to further streamline administration,” says Kate Jenkins.

Gower Cottage Brownies are baked fresh to order, using local Gower free-range eggs and can be sent out on the day of order. Brownies are available with or without Walnuts and a gluten free option is available.
