Effectively double the Geometric resolution of Thermal images recorded with Testo Thermal Imaging Cameras, via a software upgrade which provides four times more pixels on each image.
Testo is pleased to introduce its new SuperResolution Technology. This option provides the capability to significantly improve the resolution of the thermal images captured with a Thermal Imaging camera.
With Testo's SuperResolution Technology the resolution of the thermal images recorded with the camera are subsequently enhanced in the software.
The Thermal images captured with the resolution of the camera detector are intensified providing greater detail and clarity with truly outstanding images, giving you much more from your camera.
Testo's SuperResolution Technology, for which a patent is pending, makes use of two well-known, recognised methods. Firstly, a sequence of several images is saved each time a picture is taken.
Calculations are made from this sequence of images, and the result is a higher-resolution image. Everyone taking images has a natural amount of hand quiver, which results in minimal movements while the thermal image is being taken and this method utilises these movements.
This creates a sequence of images that are minimally offset at random from each other. Testo's special procedure uses the additional information and readings from these multiple images, to create a higher-resolution image of the thermographed object, thus providing higher quality, clearer images.
Secondly, the image quality is improved based on detailed knowledge of the infrared lens characteristics. This is achieved by optimising the imaging properties of the lens by way of calculation. This procedure also helped the Hubble Space Telescope to record sharper images, for example.
Testo's SuperResolution Technology is not an interpolation method where artificial intermediate values are generated without obtaining additional information. Instead true readings are utilised, which can be regarded as comparable to a higher detector resolution.
Thus, e.g. from a 160 x 120 pixel image we get a 320 x 240 pixel image, and from a 320 x 240 pixel image we get a 640 x 480 pixel image. The geometric resolution of the SuperResolution thermal image is effectively doubled.
Testo's SuperResolution Technology is available in all Testo thermal imaging cameras from 1.10.2011. For camera models testo 875, testo 876, testo 881 and testo 882 purchased already, the SuperResolution Technology can be activated via a software upgrade.
