Chocolate brownies 'nation’s fave chocolate bakery treat'

Chocolate brownies have emerged as the winners in a survey to find the nations favourite chocolate bakery treat
Sweet bakery manufacturer Dawn Foods set out to find a chocolate treat to coincide with Chocolate Week (10-16 October 2011). The company, based in Evesham, had previously discovered Scones, Cream and Jam is the UK’s Signature Sweet Treat during British Food Fortnight earlier this year using Facebook and Twitter.
The Chocolate Brownie gained 28.6% of the overall vote and faced some stiff competition in the form of fellow American contender the Chocolate Chip Cookie (19%), modern Double Chocolate Muffin (14.3%), and the classic favourite Chocolate Cake (14.3%).
Says Marketing Manager Jacqui Passmore, “Chocolate Week was the perfect time to quiz people on their favourite Chocolate Bakery Treats and we were unsure which product would emerge victorious.
“Chocolate Brownies are, for many people, a rich comfort food that can, along with a cup of tea or coffee, satisfy any chocolate cravings. This result is the perfect example of how its popularity has grown in recent years.”
