Carbon fibre arms lift reliability for front-of-pack print & apply
21 September 2011
Logopak has supplied Arla Dairies with three high resolution print & apply case labelling machines, equipped with carbon-fibre application arms to allow traded units of butter from three new production lines to be labelled reliably on the front of the pack

The shelf-ready cases emerge short edge leading from the wraparound case-packers for labelling, which dictates front-of-pack application, the most demanding orientation for print & apply machinery, as Logopak UK general manager Wilson Clark explains:
"Front-of-pack labelling, usually involving head-on physical contact with the pack, imposes considerable mechanical strains on equipment. However, using specially designed carbon-fibre application arms provides additional strength and ensures the reliability of the labelling process."
The three Logopak 515 labellers are also equipped as standard with 300dpi thermal transfer printers, against an industry norm of 200dpi, providing extra resolution to maintain high levels of readability for text and the GS1 128 bar codes.
In addition, Logopak is supplying ARLA Dairies with a special combination of label substrate and adhesive that allows the labels to be removed cleanly from the packs as they are loaded onto shelves, leaving no residue or tearing the pack surface.
