Nothing slippery as Landia’s recirculation pumps promote eel growth

13 July 2011

Landia’s role in the fish farming and fish processing industries continues with the news its pumps have completed a decade of uninterrupted service at one of Europe’s largest eel farms in Denmark

Integrated into an existing system, Landia’s axial flow pumps have successfully encouraged eel growth and good health by injecting air into the water and forcing oxygen to the bottom of the tanks, where waste and left-over feed would otherwise accumulate and deplete the O2.

Apart from typical service intervals there have been no blockages or breakdowns in the Landia pumps since their installation 10 years ago.

In specifying Landia’s pumps, the eel farm has reduced its energy bills by over 40%. The water is recirculated for a 600m3/h application, with 0.8m head for optimum filtration.

More recently, Landia has also completed the installation of two 7.5kW axial flow pumps for an eel farm in northern Germany, where 500m3/h with 1.7m head was required. Landia’s energy-efficient solution has replaced the eel farm’s existing 35kW system.
