Bistro Express satisfies hunger for growth with APC Overnight

16 June 2011

Ready meals company Bistro Express has boosted growth nationally through APC Overnight's delivery services

Ready meals company Bistro Express has boosted growth nationally through APC Overnight's delivery services.

Bistro Express provides wholesome alternatives to the usual lunch box fare and APC Overnight delivers next day for meals purchased from the Bistro Express website (www.bistro-express.co.uk). Within the next two years, Bistro Express is forecasting that more than 60,000 cases of its ambient meals will be sold over the web and delivered by APC Overnight.

"The APC Overnight service is an important part of our meal offering. With the help and support of the local APC Bolton team and all the other depots in the network, we are able to provide an efficient and reliable service. Our customers appreciate this and the word is spreading fast, which is helping our business growth.

"With APC Overnight we can respond quickly to customer orders and confidently approach new opportunities knowing that delivery to anywhere in the UK is not a problem," says Mike Ashton, Director Bistro Express.

After customers have placed their orders on the Bistro Express website, collections are booked online, which alerts the depot. The system prints the parcel labels automatically and these are attached to the courier packs (each pack takes a presentation case of six meals) ready for collection by 4pm each day. The system also provides traceability and proof of delivery.

Bistro Express food quality is achieved using a unique microwaveable process, with long life assured through a special food container, which keeps all the freshness in. No further special packaging or transport is required. Both the production method and the packaging are patented and unique to Bistro Express, which means that no other company in the world can use the processes.

"We are very excited by the growth of our business and we foresee that our direct-to-consumer fulfilment will be handled completely by APC Overnight in the near future. This will further strengthen our ability to provide a 24-hour delivery solution for our online customers. With such a strong and reliable supply chain to support the business, the opportunities are limitless," concludes Mike Ashton.

Bistro Express is owned by Enterprise Brands Ltd, which supplies ambient, frozen and fresh food to the trade. Working with leading UK food manufacturers and producers, Enterprise Brands designs and develops meals and brands. Its trade customers include Bestway Cash & Carry, Batleys Cash & Carry Wholesale, Palmer & Harvey, MOD, NHS, custodial services and IKEA.
