06 June 2011

The Heinz factory in Wigan is the largest food factory in Europe, producing for the UK and Europe market. With important sustainability targets set for 2015, Heinz called on Spirax Sarco to help initiate energy saving measures. Hear all about it at Appetite for Engineering...

Barry Aspey, utilities improvements manager at Heinz, will speak on behalf of his company. He served his mechanical engineering apprenticeship with Heinz, starting in 1967, and has worked for Heinz ever since in various roles, from boiler engineer to environmental compliance manager, in which role he was responsible for the application and subsequent granting of the PPC permit for the Wigan site.

In this role, he's had a slight career path change from mechanical engineering to process engineering. The responsibilities of this role include utility efficiency improvements and meeting the utility sustainability targets for the Wigan site.

Paul Hardman joined Spirax Sarco from BAE Systems in 1995. Initially an area sales manager in Cumbria, he combined this role with an engineered systems role in 2000.
