WERMA beacons and sounders: keeping the working environment safe and sound

02 June 2011

Some applications encountered in the food processing industry can be taxing even for a manufacturer such as WERMA with one of the most extensive ranges of beacons and sounders available

A well known national Dairy Products manufacturer with a large facility in Leeds had a particular problem in the plastic bottling manufacturing facility on site.

A loud industrial beacon/sounder was required for a particularly noisy part of the facility to give local warning of the general site fire alarm being activated.

The ambient noise level in the area under scrutiny is around 110dB and the facility fire alarm system was not clearly visible in this area, nor was the sound output loud enough so an additional alarm was essential.

WERMA solved the problem by trialling several units on site until the 142 series Multi-Tone sounder with integral xenon flash unit was selected. The sounder has a volume adjustable output of up to 120dB so at full strength is 2.1/2 louder than the ambient noise level in the plastic bottling production cell.

In addition the user can preselect from 32 different tones available on the unit to ensure that the right sound for local warning can be employed.

For all information on the vast range of industrial signalling products available from WERMA check out the website www.werma.co.uk or contact the company direct.
