Hygiene Group 'finds new ally'

19 May 2011

Hygiene Group, a supplier of contract cleaning services to the UK food processing sector, has clinched a major six-figure contract at Allied Bakeries’ production facility at Gateshead

The two-year deal will see a dedicated team of 26 skilled Hygiene Group operatives perform a complete clean of all the production equipment during weekly shutdown at the facility where on-site equipment includes mixers, provers, ovens, coolers, slicers and wrapping machinery.

Hygiene Group is also providing high level cleaning as well as cleaning of silos, walls and floors, amenities, shower and toilet areas, offices, canteen, windows and grounds maintenance.

To show its commitment to the highest cleaning standards, Hygiene Group has invested in four new high-specification dry steam units for detail cleaning of production equipment.

Cleaning at the Gateshead facility as previously handled in-house but the decision was taken to outsource the service to maximise flexibility in the cleaning process and allow on-site staff to focus on core activities. Hygiene Group won the contract following an extensive tender process.

Patrick Love, General Manager for Allied Bakeries at Gateshead, explained: “We received proposals from many of the large players in food facility cleaning but opted for Hygiene Group based on their flexibility, their understanding of the issues facing us and their ability to offer a high-quality, competitively priced service backed by transparent auditing procedures and robust key performance indicators demonstrating the completion of work to pre-agreed standards.”

Bob Cannell of Hygiene Group added: “To add a major nationwide name such as Allied Bakeries to our client portfolio is a major coup for us and demonstrates our ability to offer flexible cleaning services based on our extensive experience as a dedicated food sector cleaning provider.

“As the outsourcing of cleaning becomes more and more prevalent, our status as the only dedicated national cleaning supplier to the food and beverage sector stands us in good stead to win further business based on our unique understanding and ability to offer the detailed auditing and reporting required to meet ever more stringent industry standards.”
