Find right motor or drive with new ABB catalogue

20 April 2011

The 2011 edition of ABB’s drives and motors catalogue is now available for end-users, system integrators, machine builders and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs)

The 76-page catalogue is free and can be downloaded directly from www.abb.co.uk/energy or a hard copy is available from freephone Brochureline on 0800 783 7491.

The drives and motors catalogue includes the Product Quickfinder, an easy-to-read table that helps you produce a shortlist of drives and motors for your application from among the large number of products in the ABB range. To make it easier to find the correct equipment, the catalogue also includes The Featurefinder, helping users home-in on exactly the right product features to fit specific applications.

For those that need further advice, there is a page of contact details of all ABB Drives Alliance and ABB Motor Service Partners.

The main data tables for the drives and motors include prices for each product, aiding costing of a drives or motor application.

New products featured in the catalogue include a new ABB industrial drive suitable for all applications. Rated from 0.55 to 250 kW, the range is the first to feature ABB’s new common architecture, allowing for faster commissioning, minimal operator training and a familiarity across all ABB drives to be launched in the future.

ABB’s new high contrast, high resolution control panel is visible in all conditions and incorporates a flashing backlight to help users identify and analyse variations and faults in the process. The menus and messages can be customised allowing users to use their own terminology making commissioning and control easier.

Also featured in the new catalogue is MotorAdvantage, a scheme that aims to help the process industry uncover the true cost of running electric motors. The scheme assesses current motor policies in up to five motor-driven applications and identifies improvements that can be made. MotorAdvantage can show when a motor is likely to fail and calculate the impact on production. The aim is to show the value of holding critical spares and/or using a third party to hold replacement motors allowing organisations to minimise downtime in critical processes.

The ABB general machinery drive now meets the new Machinery Directive and includes a SIL 3 rated safe torque-off facility.

Other new products include an ABB industrial drive module especially designed for system integrators and rated up to 500 kW. The drives can be configured to meet precise needs of industrial applications through a wide range of options.

The catalogue also details the ABB motor-drive combinations, allowing motors and drives to be matched to suit any demanding process. Many ABB drives are also ATEX certified for use with an ABB motor for hazardous areas.

With information on services for drives and motor support, software for drive commissioning and maintenance and many other tasks and remote monitoring options, the 2011 ABB Drives and Motors catalogue is a complete guide to ABB motion control products.
