National Centre for Food Manufacturing has full package
16 July 2010
The University of Lincoln's National Centre for Food Manufacturing (NCFM) has recently been running a range of food packaging related trials
Work with food manufacturers and packaging suppliers has covered a range of project areas including review of shelflife and quality benefits linked to modified atmosphere packaging where the results have significantly benefitted business operational costs.
Food packing machinery within the NCFM has been utilised by packaging suppliers to assess how well their prototype packaging would run through fully operational food lines, leading to structure and formulation improvements which will ensure the proposed pack meets all market demands by the time of launch.
A current trial area is the assessment of pack seal integrity, providing businesses with a valuable insight into the effectiveness of their current packing controls and highlighting areas for further improvement.
Any businesses wishing to utilise the NCFM facility and its related services should contact the NCFM management team on 01406 49 3000 or e-mail holbeach@lincoln.ac.uk
