11 June 2010

EPAX AS has launched a website dedicated to communicating details of EPAX’s environmental sustainability strategy which revolves around three core focuses - sustainability, traceability and accountability

Bjorn Refsum, EPAX CEO comments, “We are devoted to offering a viable model of sustainable marine resource management through constant evaluation of the sustainability, traceability, and accountability of all our processes and procedures. We have a long term business commitment and responsibility to maintaining the health and well being of the oceans in which we operate.”

The EcoVision is the culmination of EPAX’s commitment over the last 170 years to the development and production of marine-based oils which are based on the three core pillars of EPAX’s vision - Purity, Quality and Innovation - fundamental to the on-going success of the business.

EPAX, working closely with its parent company, Austevoll Seafood ASA as well as sister companies, says it has taken measures throughout every stage of the supply chain to ensure and protect the ocean as well as consumer health. As CEO, Bjorn Refsum clearly summarises, “Our long history as a Nordic company has instilled in us a reverence for the world’s oceans and a passion for protecting the health and well being of these natural resources.

The launch of the new EPAX EcoVision website will give manufacturers and consumers a better understanding of the processes we have in place to ensure the ecological sustainability of the oceans for forthcoming generations.

“We are also a vertically integrated company which enables us to trace every product from the raw material through to the finished product. Plus, we are totally accountable for all practices we follow from manufacturing to our zero waste policy. For example, we have recently introduced an environmental system whereby we use excess heat from the factory to heat the head office building during Norway’s long winters.

The unveiling of the EPAX EcoVision website enables us to clearly express our environmental commitment and credentials in a formal structure which is clearly demonstrated throughout all elements of our business procedures and activities”, concludes Bjorn.
