ILAPAK launches 'Smart', its versatile, easy-to-use new flowrapper

26 April 2010

Ilapak has launched a versatile and easy to use, new flowrapper, designed to meet the needs of first time users of automatic packaging machines

Capable of high speeds of up to 100 packs a minute, the new Smart horizontal, form, fill and seal (HFFS) machine is ideal for a wide range of food and non-food products, from bakery products, fresh produce and confectionery to toiletries and medical equipment.

PC controlled, the Smart flowrapper has a colour touch screen operator interface so is exceptionally easy to operate, making product changeovers quick to carry out. To aid production line efficiency and minimise cost per pack, the Smart offers no-product-no-bag, misplaced product detection and automatic size change facilities, as well as a 64 product memory capacity.

Smart’s fully adjustable folding box ensures maximum flexibility, allowing it to pack a wide range of products, from bakery products (including craft bakery), to fresh produce, confectionery and snacks, all to the same high quality standards. Its cantilevered body and infeed are designed for easy cleaning and maintenance to ensure the highest levels of hygiene. And at only four metres in length, the Smart is extremely compact, making it ideal for premises where space is at a premium.

High speeds are another advantage; the multi-axis flowrapper is capable of producing between 15 and 100 packs a minute in the standard version or up to 200 packs a minute for the twin jaw format.

The new Smart is around 30% cheaper than flowrappers of a similar specification, thanks to Ilapak’s commitment to achieving economies of scale and production efficiencies through its expanding global manufacturing platform.

Comments Ilapak managing director Guy Levy: “The Smart is one of the latest developments from our R & D department and part of our strategy to deliver new technology, reliable equipment using high quality commercially available components, top quality service and the lowest possible energy and material consumption to allow customers to operate production lines at the minimum cost per pack.”

Another advantage of choosing an Ilapak machine is the company’s comprehensive after-sales support service for customers, with its UK-wide team of service engineers, office-based technical support specialists and in-house workshop offering software upgrades, refurbishments and pre-delivery inspections. Customers also benefit from a rapid response, spare parts service, 24/7 telephone support, an emergency breakdown service and remote access diagnostics and servicing, as well as full training on all machines.
