Amcor Flexibles wins two FPA awards

16 March 2010

Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas received two awards from the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) which recognised its work in packaging solutions for cheese products

The awards were presented during FPA's annual meeting which is just now taking place in Orlando, Florida, US.

Amcor was granted a gold award in the category 'Packaging Excellence' for its know-how in contour perforation technology applied on Emmi's Käsplättli cheese pack. The packaging format consists of a tray with four cavities, each filled with a different type of individually portioned cheese, and is sealed with a lidding film from Amcor Flexibles.

The work on contour perforation means consumers can enjoy the convenience of either peeling open the complete pack or, if they want a single piece only, push one individual cavity open and pick the cheese bite they crave for.

Amcor also received a silver award, also in the category 'Packaging Excellence', for Kerry Food's Cheestrings Shots packed in Amcor Stickpack. The pack features a child-friendly, easy opening which has been achieved by applying micro-perforation on the top of the pack. Consumers have to shake the pack, tear it open and shoot the Cheestrings Shots straight into their mouths.

The pack combines high barrier properties with easy-opening and allows the consumption directly from the pack.

"We're very proud of our double success at the FPA awards. Both packaging solutions respond to the unique requirements of our customers and provide the consumers with value added opening solutions. I would like to dedicate these awards to our sales teams and our co-workers at Amcor Flexibles Burgdorf," says Philippe Scherrer, Market Director at Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas.
