The mechanics of moving an egg

How do you transport fragile eggs through a pallet network while maintaining customer satisfaction and minimal damages? Palletline says it has been doing so for more than four years on behalf of Newport-based Country Fresh Eggs.

Palletline Member Company Alan R Jones & Sons, who cover the Newport area for Palletline, began work with Country Fresh Eggs back in 2005.

The company, which is a member of the British Free Range Egg Producers Association, Freedom Food and ‘Lion' Code, has been producing farm fresh and free range eggs for over 40 years, and currently supples both locally and to selected national retailers including Tesco and Wm Morrison.

Commenting for Country Fresh Eggs, Jenny Spearing explained the background to this unusual contract. “We operate our own fleet for local deliveries, but increasing demand and new business from national customers led us to look for a cost effective and reliable method for transporting our produce safely and economically to their Regional Distribution Centres,” she explained.

Initial discussions with Alan R Jones led to the decision to trial products thorugh the Palletline network. The success of these trials demonstrate clearly the high quality handling processes evident throughout the Palletline network presented very little risk to the products.

Country Fresh Eggs profess themselves very satisfied with the reliability and quality of the Palletline deliveries. “Alan R Jones & Sons and Palletline continue to provide us with an excellent, cost effective solution for our more distant RDC deliveries,” confirmed Jenny.
