Upgrading chocolate-making facility

10 July 2009

Yorkshire-based food inclusions manufacturer Pecan Deluxe Candy (Europe) says following demand for its chocolate confectionery, it has invested in upgrading its chocolate-making facility

The addition of the new equipment, in Sherburn-in-Elmet, will help the company expand its fair-trade chocolate range and strengthen its position further within the UK confectionery market. Introduced by Pecan Deluxe's parent company in the US, the new chocolate machinery has already been tried and tested and is capable of producing intricate chocolate shapes, such as pigs and monkeys.

Pecan Deluxe says it has been dedicated to retaining artisan production elements to offer a flexible alternative to fully mechanised methods.

However, the company says it recognises that to stay competitive it has to invest in state-of-the-art machinery and claims the introduction of the new chocolate-making equipment has not tarnished its identity in the confectionery market but enhanced it.

Pecan Deluxe has a collection of more than 250 different inclusions, which are suitable for food manufacturers wanting to satisfy the demands for more creative flavours and to help meet demands for more novelty products.

The company's range includes praline pecan nuts, fudge and toffee pieces, chocolate shapes and filled chocolates, cookies, truffle pieces, fudge brownies, ribbon sauces and honeycomb pieces.

Pecan Deluxe says its success derives from its ability to combine quality food ingredients with an all-encompassing product development service, which includes trialling and sampling ingredients.

This allows its customers to create bespoke inclusions, tailored to particular flavour and texture requirements and is complimented by Pecan Deluxe's team of technical food experts, on hand to help integrate ingredients into new foods and develop the finished products.

While many companies are afraid to spend owing to the current economic climate, Pecan Deluxe says its latest investment helps further underline its dedication to innovation and improving flexibility, choice and quality for its customers.

The company's UK managing director Allan Dew commented: "Despite the country's economic situation Pecan Deluxe is continuing to invest in its facilities and expand its product portfolio. We believe that investing through these turbulent times will ensure that we are able to remain competitive and weather the storm.

"This year has already been extremely successful for Pecan Deluxe with the launch of our new fiery hot and spicy range and healthy additions. Our new chocolate facility will increase our capacity and enable us to develop even more delectable chocolate creations."
