FDF: Our ideas to promote healthy workplace eating
12 May 2009
Angela Coleshill, Food & Drink Federation HR director, revealed some of the federation's plans for promoting healthy eating in the workplace at a workshop attended by FDF members Danone, Nestle and Unilever

The workshop, entitled ‘Big Ideas for Promoting Healthy Eating and Physical Activity in Your Workplace’, is part of Business in the Community’s Health and Work summit.
“It is well known that the workplace has a direct impact on the physical, mental, economic and social wellbeing of employees,'' Coleshill said. ''Even when companies are facing serious challenges in the current economic climate, it is vital that the wellbeing of employees does not slip off the agenda as their health and wellbeing is paramount to the success of the company and the wider industry.
“Leading members of the FDF has long recognised that a healthy, committed workforce is vital to business success, and we appreciate the importance of building a strong reputation as an excellent employer if we are to continue recruiting the best possible talent into our businesses. That’s why, as part of our wider work to promote workplace wellbeing, the Food and Drink Federation is sponsoring both today’s event and also the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity toolkits, which were launched today. We believe that healthy eating and physical activity go hand in hand, and that it’s important to help employees create an appropriate energy balance. Our toolkits set out practical ways in which businesses can implement initiatives to improve employee health and wellbeing.”
Several FDF members attended the event, including Danone, Nestle and Unilever; to discuss how best to promote healthy eating and physical activity in the workplace, and will be showcasing some of their own companies’ inspiring initiatives.
