Buyer sought for frozen food manufacturer

Freshpack Ltd, a manufacturer of frozen pastry products and ready meals, has gone into administration following a period of difficult trading. The Alsager-based company will continue to operate while a buyer is sought for the business. 

Matt Dunham of Dunham Dean Advisory has been appointed as administrator to the firm, which supplies a wide range of pies, ready meals and snack products to frozen food retailers and discount stores, both under the Freshpack brand and as white label products.

The administrator and the directors are in negotiations with suppliers and customers to ensure operations continue smoothly during the process. They hope to sell the business as a going concern to save the jobs of the 68 staff.

The plant uses some of the latest technology, including fully automated puff pastry production, and has its own technical team which works with customers to develop own-label products. "Freshpack operates a fully equipped modern factory with a long-standing, skilled workforce and benefits from an established customer network. This provides a great opportunity for another manufacturer to extend their production facilities, develop new product lines and expand into new areas of the marke,” said Dunham.'
