Optimised solution for consistent flavour production

The goal when producing flavours is to create something that mimics, as closely as possible, the real thing. In addition to the right combination of raw materials, the manufacturing process is an equally crucial element to ensure a consistent product. Any variation in method can cause variations in the end product. 

GEA has used its combined experience of mixing, pumping, homogenisation, drying and handling equipment to develop a solution for the consistent production of flavours. It has designed a production solution – from the handling of raw materials right through to final packaging and cleaning.

The new integrated line controls all the individual unit operations precisely and, by doing so, controls the output. It is equally important that all the component parts of the line work together in harmony. For example, feed systems must be calibrated specifically to match the capabilities of the mixer and the size of the mixer must be scaled precisely with the size of the dryer to ensure compatibility. 

With the overall concept, GEA has also eliminated sharp edges or dead zones in the machines, pipework and valve systems, which even the smallest quantity of product could become trapped. Materials were chosen to provide smooth internal surfaces to which product cannot adhere. The size of cleaning fluid tanks has been calculated to ensure that the right volume of medium is held to clean the system efficiently. Even gasket materials were considered to ensure they would not harbour traces of product.
